Gerber’s Jeff Freeman Receives Engineering Award from Oregon State University

Gerber Legendary Blades, a leader in the knife and tool industry for over 70 years, is pleased to announce that its Innovation Manager & Lead Design Engineer Jeff Freeman was a recipient of a 2011 engineering award from Oregon State University.  A 1997 graduate of Oregon State’s College of Engineering, Freeman was recently recognized with a Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers Award by the university.

Freeman has been part of the Gerber team since April 1998 and has been the company’s Senior Design Engineer since August 2000.  A Sweet Home, Oregon native, Jeff was drawn to knives for their beauty and utility and first began collecting knives at the age of ten. Today Freeman holds seven design patents and numerous product awards, but he is most proud of the products he designs for the United States military.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive this honor from my alma mater, not only for myself but also for the incredible team we have here at Gerber,” said Freeman. “The problem-solving skills I picked up at Oregon State have been invaluable throughout my career and are something I employ daily here in my work with Gerber,” Freeman concludes.

Congratulations Jeff!  We thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the Gerber brand.
